NO PICKING/DIY REMOVAL!!! If you choose to only take one piece of advice from me then please let it be this - do not pick your gel/builder gel off your nails or attempt to remove it at home. This can severely damage your natural nails. If you would like your gel/builder gel removed this is absolutely fine but please book a removal appointment. APPLY CUTICLE OIL DAILY Cuticle oil should be applied at least once a day, twice if you can, especially in the colder months. This will help to moisturise and hydrate both your nails and skin. Cuticle oil can also help to prolong the life of your manicure and prevent the gel from lifting. I can personally vouch for how much improvement I have seen in my own nails since using cuticle oil daily. TOP TIP - leave your cuticle oil on your bedside table so that you remember to put it on every morning/night! DO NOT USE YOUR NAILS AS TOOLS We have all done it - used our nails to open boxes/cans etc., however, using your nails as tools to pull open, peel off or pick at anything may result in your manicure chipping or lifting. WEAR GLOVES IF HANDLING CHEMICALS Chemicals such as cleaning products can dry out your skin and nails. They can affect the appearance of your manicure and also how long it lasts, so wear gloves if handling chemicals. MINIMISE SOAKING NAILS IN WATER Try not to leave your hands in water for long periods of time, such as in the bath/swimming/in a hot tub. As above, wear gloves if possible - for example if washing dishes. Leaving your hands immersed in water can soften your nails and cause your gel/builder gel to lift prematurely. SCHEDULE REGULAR APPOINTMENTS This should usually be between 2-4 weeks and is individual to each client’s nail type, lifestyle and the service you have had - I can advise on this. Regular appointments ensure healthy natural nail growth and strength. Thank you for booking with me, I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment. Jess x
