Thank you for trusting me with your massage. I really hope you enjoyed it and that you will feel a range of wholistic benefits from it.
In order to get the most from your treatment, here are a few things to keep in mind in the next few hours and days:
1. Be kind to yourself. Mood changes are really common after a massage. Often you can leave the treatment room feeling lighter, uplifted and more resilient, but sometimes you can feel a little unsettled and perhaps some less desirable emotions that have been sitting below the surface can bubble up. Regardless, be caring to yourself and do more things that you know make you feel connected to yourself. You deserve care and rest!
2. Move gently. Massage is a great way to relax your body and mind, but to keep yourself in this parasympathetic state, avoid especially strenuous workouts for a little while and try not to rush off to the rest of the day if you can help it. Maybe go for a slow walk or spend 5 minutes having a little stretch ( I can recommend some specific stretches for you if you'd like).
3. Nourish your body. Drink more water than you normally would and eat things that make your body feel its best. This is especially important if your massage was to aid in recovery, or if you had an MLD treatment.
4. Plan your next time for self care. It's common for us to book a massage when we are at the end of our tethers, sometimes feeling exhausted, tense and disconnected. If you can, schedule the next time you can dedicate to yourself- block off an hour to read or listen to something, schedule a walk, book an exercise class or another massage.
If you'd like to get in touch to further discuss any aftercare please don't hesitate to.
Until next time take care,
Ellie
