Injectable treatments have a few side effects. You’ll be pleased to know that these side effects are nothing major and are often manageable, mild and subside within a few days.
Side effects from injectable treatments commonly occur around the injection site. Common side effects of this popular treatment include:
Luckily, all of the above are temporary side effects and will often only last for a few days.
• Anti-wrinkle injection aftercare tips:
You can do many things at home to reduce the common side effects of Anti Wrinkle injections. Unfortunately, there is no particular product to buy or plan to follow that will cure your side effects, just a few lifestyle changes for a week or so. Some of the top aftercare tips are:
- Avoid Alcohol for 24 hours before and after your treatment
- Avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours. For best results, we recommend steering clear of alcohol one week before and one week following your treatment. Sometimes beauty comes at a cost.
- Keep the treated area clean and do not wear make-up for at least 24 hours
- This one should be an obvious tip but it is important to keep the injection site clean. Although we do advise against applying pressure and touching the area after treatment, warm soapy water and a soft cloth applied gently should do the trick. You should also not apply any makeup or skincare products you may have to the treated area as this could increase the risk of infection.
- Try to stay upright for 4 hours following treatment
- Try to avoid lying down, napping or relaxing horizontally for at least 4 hours following your treatment. Try to keep upright in a chair or by standing during this time to avoid the solution spreading and not being as effective.
- Don’t apply any pressure to the area for the first 48 hours
- Please do not touch the treated area or apply pressure to the injection site for any reason, or you may risk disrupting your results. We would recommend sleeping on your back if possible, and not rubbing the treated area. Resist massaging the treated area unless instructed to do so by a medical professional.
- Avoid high-intensity activities or exercise for over 24 hours
- Avoid heavy or intense exercise for the first 24 hours following your treatment to avoid impacting your final results. If you are an active person, some minor exercise such as walking can still be suitable, however you should avoid working up a sweat.
- Avoid hot environments for 24 hours following treatment. This includes hot summer days, spas, saunas and hot showers. We recommend booking your treatment on a day when you do not have any other things planned and can complete your aftercare in peace. This does not mean not going outside during summer, but limiting your exposure to the heat from the sun.
- Do not complete any further skin treatments in the treated area for up to 2 weeks
- Further skin treatments around the affected area should not be avoided entirely for at least 2 weeks after treatment. This includes waxing, chemical peels, facials, skin needling, microdermabrasion, or any laser treatments.
• Lip Filler injection aftercare tips:
- Swelling after lip filler treatment is completely normal and therefore the size of your lips immediately after treatment is not a true reflection of the final result. Minor swelling can last up to a week following lip filler treatment and can be longer depending on multiple factors.
- To help reduce swelling following lip filler:
Avoid:
- It’s important not to fly internationally for at least 2 weeks after getting lip filler as flying can cause increased swelling.
- Your lips can feel a little lumpy initially post treatment and this can last for a few weeks until the filler settles. However, if any lumps/bumps persist beyond this time then please get in contact for a complimentary review.
- Remember, every client is different, and results can vary between individuals.
