Ear Irrigation (Ear Syringing) Aftercare
Thank you for attending AP Medical Aesthetics & Health Clinic for ear irrigation.
Following Your Treatment
- It is normal to experience mild sensitivity, slight dizziness, or a feeling of fullness in the ear for a few hours after treatment.
- Your hearing may feel different or unusually clear immediately after wax removal.
- Avoid inserting cotton buds, fingers, or any objects into the ear canal.
- Keep the ears dry for the next 24 hours where possible.
For the Next 24–48 Hours
- Avoid swimming and water sports.
- Take care when showering or washing your hair to prevent water entering the ear canal.
- If your ears feel dry or irritated, this should settle naturally within a few days.
Ongoing Ear Care
- Do not use cotton buds, as these can push wax deeper into the ear canal.
- If you are prone to wax build-up, consider using olive oil ear drops once or twice weekly to help soften wax naturally.
- Avoid ear candles, as they are ineffective and may cause injury.
Seek Medical Advice If You Experience
- Persistent pain or discomfort.
- Bleeding or discharge from the ear.
- Significant hearing loss.
- Severe dizziness or vertigo.
- Tinnitus that is new or worsening.
- Signs of infection such as increasing pain, redness, swelling, or fever.
Follow-Up
If symptoms persist despite successful wax removal, a further assessment may be required to investigate other causes of hearing loss or ear discomfort.
