Here are some aftercare tips to keep your nail treatments looking their best until I see you again! WEAR GLOVES Washing up & gardening are an essential when you are cleaning the house/washing up or planting a new shrub or digging. Bleach especially, can destroy the bond on gel polish. OIL THOSE CUTIES Oiling your nails/cuticles daily will make such a big difference to how your nails look. I sell cuticle oil pens which you can purchase at your appointment. You should also be using a nourishing hand cream daily especially in the winter months however please be aware ingredients like lanolin and mineral oil can break down the bond between the gel and the nail, leading to lifting and peeling. To avoid this, use hand creams that are lanolin-free and avoid using products like sun creams, insect repellents with DEET, and fake tan, which can also affect gel nail longevity. AVOID WATER When having baths please keep your hands out of the water. Keeping your nails in water for long periods of time can make your nail enhancements lift away. Especially for the first few hours after application, as heat can lift gel. Swimming pool chlorine is similar to bleach and prolonged exposure will impact the gel polish longevity. NO PICKING Don’t pick your gels off your nails as this will result in a damaged nail plate meaning the next time you get your manicure done, they won’t last as long. Nail products adhere better to healthy nails not unhealthy ones. and lastly please remember… YOUR NAILS ARE JEWELS NOT TOOLS Always use scissors to open post/parcels, peel stickers, open picture frames etc – your nails are not tools and you will chip your nails.
Here are some aftercare tips to ensure you get the best results BEFORE Exfoliate the waxing area 24-48 hours before your appointment. This will keep the skin soft and smoother and prevent ingrown hairs. Bath or shower on the day of your appointment to open up follicles, allowing for easier hair removal. Do not apply any deodorants, make-up, lotions, soaps, powders, perfumes or self-tanning products to the area to be waxed. AFTER After your waxing service, you may expect the area to be red, some may experience blood spots due to thicker, courser hair and the area may feel tender and tingle this is completely normal. 24 HOUR WINDOW For at least 24 hours please avoid touching or scratching the waxed area. Avoid hot water I.e hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms showers and baths. Avoid perspiration. Avoid sunbathing/sunbeds or any sunlight and UV exposure. Sweat can infect open follicles and heat can irritate the waxed area. Remember to book your wax 2 days before you go on holiday, to allow the follicles enough time to close and the skin to calm down Avoid applying products to the waxed area such as deodorants, make-up, exfoliants, lotions, soaps, powders, perfumes, self-tanning products etc for at least 24 hours this is to ensure you don’t aggravate the area. Lastly avoid fitted clothing that may cause friction to the waxed area. INGROWING HAIRS 3-10 days after your waxing service, you need to ensure you prevent ingrown hairs. The skin will close over the follicles and new hair may get trapped causing ingrown hairs. Gently exfoliate 2-3 times a week with a body scrub. Start this routine 2-3 days after the waxing treatment. It is essential that you perform this routine between days 3-10 after your wax service. Remember to not over exfoliate as this can cause damage to the skin. Follow your exfoliation with an enriching and nourishing moisturiser. This process will prevent ingrown hairs and ensure that your next wax is easier and a little less painful.
Here are some aftercare tips to help prolong the longevity of your eyebrow/eyelash tint. AVOID Although it’s not a problem to get your eyebrows wet after a tinting treatment, you can try to avoid washing for at least 12 hours. You should also avoid excessive touching or rubbing for 24 hours to avoid irritation. GREEN BROWS Avoid anything that contains a tan or gradual tanning agents. The tan can react with the tint, leaving your brows a rather unwelcome shade of green. It is recommended avoiding fake tan for three days either side of your treatment. HORMONES It is recommended that you avoid eyebrow tint when pregnant, breastfeeding or undergoing IVF. Changes in hormones can leave you more prone to a reaction, so giving the tinting step a miss is best. CHEMICALS Chemicals such as chlorine can make a brow tint fade sooner than you’d like so try to avoid swimming if you want longer lasting results. Anti-ageing and exfoliating skincare should be avoided for three days either side of your treatment. After that, avoid applying around the brow area to prevent premature colour fade. Oil based make up remover can cause the tint to fade faster.
