Dear client The effects of your treatment should last a few days or even longer and this advice may help: • Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins which may have been released • Try to cut down/avoid stimulants - alcohol, tea, coffee for 12/24 hrs - they can dehydrate • Try to rest or sleep after a treatment to allow your body to repair and heal • Avoiding stress where possible, at least immediately after a treatment • Try to eat light meals after a treatment to allow the body time to repair If the treatment is for relaxation, try to avoid strenuous activity & stress after the session. Some gentle stretching, walking or light exercise may enhance the effects of the treatments If the treatment is to improve performance it could be followed by stretching techniques It is often better to have regular treatments, or a short course of treatments, as this usually increases the effectiveness of most therapies Posture Some of the problems you may experience may be related to posture - If you think your posture is not ideal, consider seeing a therapist who specialises in postural alignment techniques, e.g. Alexander Technique, Shiatsu, Yoga, Pilates or any exercises that may help Diet Review your diet and try to increase fresh fruit and vegetables, cut down on fat, sugar and processed foods and have plenty of water. If needed, consider seeking nutritional advice. Exercise Try to exercise for 20 minutes or more per day. Exercises that increase your heart rate or stimulates you circulation generally help to improve our wellbeing. Alternatives if taking prescribed medication, discuss the possibilities of natural alternatives with your doctor NEVER STOP TAKING PRESCRIBED MEDICATION WITHOUT CONSULTING YOUR DOCTOR Stress If possible, try to find ways of managing your stress more effectively. Consider relaxation, yoga, meditation, aromatherapy or other stress relieving methods and seek help if you need it. If you have any ongoing health condition it may be helpful to find out more about it so you can improve or maintain your own health and sense of wellbeing. Participate in your health care.
