Spray Tan Aftercare Plan
Immediately After Your Appointment (First 4–8 Hours)
- Avoid water: Do not shower, wash hands excessively, or get wet (rain, sweating, crying, etc.).
- No touching: Try not to touch your skin while the tan is developing to prevent finger marks.
- Wear loose, dark clothing: Avoid anything tight that may rub the tanning solution off.
- No skin products: Avoid deodorant, lotions, perfumes, or makeup until after your first rinse.
- Minimal physical activity: Keep your body cool to avoid sweating.
First Shower (At Your Recommended Develop Time)
- Rinse only: Use lukewarm water and rinse until the water runs clear.
- No soap for the first rinse unless advised by your technician.
- Gently pat dry: Do not rub your skin with a towel.
Following 24 Hours
- Avoid heavy sweating, pools, saunas, hot tubs, long baths, and the gym until at least 24 hours after your rinse.
- Wait before exfoliating: Do not exfoliate for several days.
Daily Tan Maintenance (Days 2–10)
- Moisturize daily: Use a hydrating, non–oil-based lotion to keep your color lasting longer and fading evenly.
- Avoid oils: Oil-based products can break down your spray tan faster.
- Use gentle body washes: Prefer sulfate-free, moisturizing washes.
- Pat dry after showers: Rubbing can remove color.
- Limit long, hot showers: Heat and steam can fade the tan more quickly.
Prolonging Your Tan
- Use a gradual tan lotion every 2–3 days to maintain color if desired.
- Drink plenty of water: Hydrated skin retains color better.
- Avoid exfoliating until your tan begins to fade naturally.
When Your Tan Begins to Fade
- Exfoliate gently: Once your tan starts breaking down, exfoliate with a mitt or scrub to ensure an even fade.
- Moisturize well: Helps reduce patchiness as the tan wears off.
Extra Tips
- Shaving: Use a sharp razor and shave lightly with a moisturizing cream to avoid stripping color.
- Face tanning: Since the face fades faster, you may use facial self-tan drops or a gentle tanning mist between sessions.
