Thank you for chosing LK Locs n Lashes for starting you on your healthy loc journey.
Below are some useful tips and information for you to refer to between maintenance visits.
Aftercare routine
- Mist hair with distilled/filtered/rose water every 2 days or when hair feels dry. Try to avoid the roots at this stage.
- Massage and smooth water mist into the hair.
- Add a dime size amount of loc moisturising oil to the locs and smooth in for deep penetration and moisturisation.
- Only repeat steps 1-3 every 2-3 days at the earliest.
Night routine
- Braid your locs into 4 sections if possible. If not then gather your hair into a loose bun.
- Cover locs with a loc sock (if hair is long) or a satin bonnet, ensuring the locs can move freely within the cap.
- You can use a satin pillow case if you find using a cap uncomfortable.
- To refresh locs, go back to steps 1-3 of the Aftercare routine.
Wash routine
- Section locs off into 6-8 sections and braid/twist them adding a snatchless band away from the root to allow fingers to shampoo properly and at the end to avoid unravelling.
- Cover hair with a hair net to avoid unravelling at the roots.
- Rinse scalp and hair thoroughly.
- Take a small amount of shampoo into palm and gently massage into the scalp- Avoid using your nails as this will cause scalp damaage, irritation, and dandruff.
- Rinse and repeat step 3 and 4 until hair lathers well and water runs clear. Be careful when washing to not disrupt the partings as starter locs are very fragile and can unravel.
- Squeeze excess water out of hair and use a microfibre towel or t-shirt to soak up the remainder.
- Air dry hair or use a hair dryer on a low heat setting to dry the hair, focusing on the roots.
