General aftercare maintenance advice for loc newbies and veterans

Thank you for chosing LK Locs n Lashes for starting you on your healthy loc journey.
Below are some useful tips and information for you to refer to between maintenance visits. Aftercare routine 1. Mist hair with distilled/filtered/rose water every 2 days or when hair feels dry. Try to avoid the roots at this stage. 2. Massage and smooth water mist into the hair. 3. Add a dime size amount of loc moisturising oil to the locs and smooth in for deep penetration and moisturisation. 4. Only repeat steps 1-3 every 2-3 days at the earliest. Night routine 1. Braid your locs into 4 sections if possible. If not then gather your hair into a loose bun. 2. Cover locs with a loc sock (if hair is long) or a satin bonnet, ensuring the locs can move freely within the cap. 3. You can use a satin pillow case if you find using a cap uncomfortable. 4. To refresh locs, go back to steps 1-3 of the Aftercare routine. Wash routine 1. Section locs off into 6-8 sections and braid/twist them adding a snatchless band away from the root to allow fingers to shampoo properly and at the end to avoid unravelling. 2. Cover hair with a hair net to avoid unravelling at the roots. 3. Rinse scalp and hair thoroughly. 4. Take a small amount of shampoo into palm and gently massage into the scalp- Avoid using your nails as this will cause scalp damaage, irritation, and dandruff. 5. Rinse and repeat step 3 and 4 until hair lathers well and water runs clear. Be careful when washing to not disrupt the partings as starter locs are very fragile and can unravel. 6. Squeeze excess water out of hair and use a microfibre towel or t-shirt to soak up the remainder. 7. Air dry hair or use a hair dryer on a low heat setting to dry the hair, focusing on the roots.
