Some Aftercare Advice ...

With the majority of Holistic Treatments, your treatment has not been fully completed when you leave the therapy room. For a lot of treatments the work carried out in the therapy room acts as a catalyst for your body to take over in the hours and even days after you leave the therapy room and return to your everyday life... Typically your body is entering into a period of holistic detox or processing which can last anything from 24 to 72 hours... Clients can also sometimes be so relaxed or in their own space after having received a treatment that they may not necessarily take everything that is said re aftercare, so for this reason here is a few things to bare in mind and get the most of your treatment. o Following any treatment, Its encouraged for you to drink plenty of water to help with the cleansing and detox function of your treatment – 1.5 to 2 litres preferably a day o Eat a well balanced diet o Get plenty of fresh air - I often advise my massage and EMMETT clients to take a good 10 to 15 minute walk before they enter back into their normal life ...this way they can identify the changes that have taken place in their body and anchor any changes. o Ideally avoid tea, coffee, caffeine and alcohol for at least the first 24 hours o Ideally avoid spicy food for at least 24 hours after the treatment o It can be perfectly normal for you to feel tired or like you wish to sleep and/or rest – if this is the case, listen to your body's wisdom as sleep and rest is the body's natural healing - allow your body to do so o Sometimes, Some people may feel a little unwell or not quite right after a treatment. Please do not be alarmed if this happens! This should not be seen as a negative thing – if anything it could be a very positive sign that the body is detoxing the body and is trying to realign and adjust and heal itself in a natural way. It doesn’t generally take more than 24 – 48 hours before this passes. Think of that dirty cooking pot that has had all sort of stuff in it that needs to be cleaned - it often can look worse than it did on the surface on the way to becoming sparkling clean again. These reactions are very common but the reactions tend to lessen as the treatments progress and just because you maybe have one experience like this does not mean it will happen again. o Some people will feel extremely energised and refreshed following a treatment – however ups should still allow the body to relax following the treatment and should not think about overdoing things and tiring themselves out... o Changes of mood can arise following a treatment – this could include feeling emotional and teary again these changes are generally short lived for between 24 – 48 hours. Again, remember this is a release and don't worry again if it happens once doesn't mean it will happen again. o Following a treatment is very common for clients to need to urinate more, go to the toilet more, perspire more and to suffer from other conditions such as flatulence, burping – all of which are sign of elimination of toxins and again are a positive sign... Getting the body clean in Mind, Body and Spirit is like a spring clean for the body - get all that rubbish out! o Like most holistic treatments it is advised generally that more than one treatment is taken and the results get deeper and better with every treatment... o Avoid heavy make up following a facial treatment. Basic eyes and lips are fine but given that the majority of facials contain a deep cleansing process it is best for the skin to be allowed to breathe and the skin may be extra sensitive after a facial. o Avoid any heat or electrical treatments for at least 24 hours. The skin has been hydrated and therefore will react quickly to the heat leading to the possible over stimulation and sensitivity of the skin. With Any Peel or electrical stimulation always ensure that you are wearing an SPF on your skin for extra protection against the elements. o If your have been having EMMETT Muscle Release work - remember we attempt to get improvement but this will not necessarily happen in one go... Likewise clicking is not necessarily a bad sign - if you have had stiffness or lack of mobility clicking can be a positive sign that the muscle has released - any questions as ever get in touch... o With Aromatherapy/CBD/Turmeric oils etc - its best to leave the oils on your skin for as long as possible so that they can really sink in and absorb into your body o Get enough sleep. The rate of skin cell repair increases when we are asleep. Tiredness and exhaustion deprive the skin of the energy it needs to recover and regenerate. o Exercise regularly. Apart from stimulating the flow of blood and supply of oxygen to the body tissues, regular exercise speeds up cell division and helps to build collagen. Keeping the body fit minimises stress and its effect on the skin o Avoid smoking as it ages the skin and starves it of oxygen & vitamin With any treatment - any thing that does not resinate with you well or that your not sure of please get in touch even if its just to put your mind at rest
