Hydrate!

Drink plenty of water to rehydrate the body and help to flush out toxins released in the massage.

Rest and Recovery

Avoid strenuous activities for at least 24-48 hours. Gentle stretching and walking can be beneficial to recovery.

Relax 💆‍♀️

Make sure you have time to rest! Rest is essential to help aid muscle recovery and reduce muscle tension.

Heat

If advised, apply heat to sensitive areas treated for pain and inflammation relief. Also a hot bath or shower the night of the treatment with help to relieve some discomfort.

Follow Up!

To maintain continued muscle care try and book in for a follow up session.

Can you get bruises after a massage?

Due to the increased pressure used in a deep tissue sports massage some mild bruising may show on the skin, especially in sensitive areas like the thigh or the inner arm. A sports therapist should always check in with you about the appropriate amount of pressure. However if a persistent, large or painful bruise does appear after a massage please inform the therapist and they’ll be able to give further advice and/or when to see a health care professional.
