The Risks The Clarity Ear health clinician is trained and certified as competent in ear care and earwax removal and will use best-practice procedures to minimise any associated risks. However, even when performed with the utmost care, there are some risks involved in earwax removal; Uncommon • Discomfort / pain (minimised by use of olive oil prior to appointment) • Damage to skin of the ear canal (minimised by use of olive oil prior to appointment) • Bleeding from ear canal • Ear infection (minimised by water precautions post procedure) • Temporary reduction in hearing • Temporary hearing sensitivity • Temporary aggravation of existing tinnitus Rare • Feeling sick or light-headed • Temporary dizziness Extremely Rare • Permanent hearing loss (minimised by limiting time of exposure to noise of suction machine and avoiding contact with or trauma to the ear drum) • Triggering of new tinnitus (minimised by limiting time exposure to noise of suction machine) • Damage to the ear drum during the procedure (minimised by restricting the depth of insertion of the suction tube) Statement Of Consent I understand that personal information will be held about me and only shared with professionals where it may help with further patient assessment and/or treatment. I understand and acknowledge that there may be risks involved with earwax removal, as stated in the above statement. I have answered the above medical questions honestly including other factors that may affect my suitability for any or all forms of earwax removal. I hereby give Clarity hearing health informed consent to capture clinical images only for the purpose of patient monitoring and/or treatment. I hereby give the Clarity hearing health practitioner informed consent to remove wax from my ear/s using the procedure most appropriate for my personal circumstances. I consent to treatment and confirm the information is accurate. Submit
