COLOUR AFTERCARE
To keep your colour looking fresh, glossy, and long-lasting, aftercare is essential. Please follow the guidance below:
• Wait before washing Avoid washing your hair for 24–48 hours after your colour appointment. This allows the colour to fully settle into the hair.
• Use professional products Always use sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner to help maintain vibrancy and longevity. All recommended professional products can be found on my salon shelf — you can shop them directly here: s/hair-by-hayley?sca_ref=9755052.YT5F0PTYPt
• Wash less, love more Try to wash your hair no more than 2–3 times per week. Over-washing can cause colour to fade more quickly. Dry shampoo is your best friend between washes.
• Watch the heat Excessive heat can dull colour. Always use a heat protectant and keep tools at a moderate temperature.
• Protect from sun & chlorine UV rays and chlorine can alter your colour. Use a UV protectant when in the sun and rinse hair before and after swimming.
• Toning & maintenance Blondes and highlighted hair may need purple/blue shampoo (used as advised). Regular toning or gloss appointments will keep your colour fresh.
• At-home treatments Weekly masks or bond-building treatments help maintain strength, shine, and the longevity of your colour.
EXTENSIONS AFTERCARE
Hair extensions are an investment and require extra care to keep them looking beautiful while protecting your natural hair.
• Washing your extensions Wash 1–2 times per week only using professional, extension-safe products. Avoid products containing sulphates, silicones, or heavy oils near the bonds/wefts.
• Brushing Brush your hair morning and night using an extension-safe brush. Always support the hair at the root and work from ends upwards.
• Dry thoroughly Never leave extensions damp. Ensure bonds/wefts are fully dry after washing to prevent matting, slippage, and tension on the natural hair.
• Heat styling Heat is fine in moderation. Always use a heat protectant and avoid placing heat directly on bonds, tapes, or wefts.
• Sleeping Never sleep with wet hair. Tie hair in a loose braid or low ponytail and use a silk or satin pillowcase if possible.
• Exercise & swimming Tie hair up during workouts. Swimming is best avoided where possible. If you do swim, tie hair up, avoid submerging, and rinse immediately afterwards.
• Products to avoid Avoid oils, masks, and conditioners on or near the bonds, tapes, or wefts. Apply products from mid-lengths to ends only.
• Maintenance & refit time frames To keep your extensions safe and looking their best, maintenance must be carried out within the recommended time frames:
Leaving extensions in for longer than advised can cause matting, breakage, and damage to the natural hair.
• Rebooking Please ensure you rebook your maintenance or refit appointment before leaving the salon or via the booking system to secure availability.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Failure to follow the recommended aftercare and maintenance advice may affect the longevity of your colour or extensions and may void any guarantee.
