General advice/care:
Apply cuticle oil daily to prevent dryness and lifting.
Wear gloves for washing dishes, cleaning, or gardening.
Use hand cream often, especially after washing your hands.
Don’t use your nails as tools to open cans, scratch labels, etc.
Avoid picking or peeling gel or polish off — this can damage the nail plate.
If you had gel or acrylics, book proper removal instead of soaking or pulling them off yourself.
Keep nails trimmed and filed gently if edges snag.
Gel Manicure Aftercare:
Avoid peeling or picking gel polish, as it can remove layers of the natural nail.
Use acetone-free products when possible to reduce dryness.
Moisturize nails and cuticles daily because gel can dehydrate the nail plate.
Have gels professionally removed to minimise damage.
Acrylic Nail Aftercare:
Avoid putting pressure on acrylic nails to prevent lifting or cracking.
Schedule fills every 2–3 weeks to maintain structure and prevent breakage.
Keep the underside of nails clean and dry.
Never force broken acrylics off yourself.
BIAB (Builder Gel) Aftercare:
Keep nails hydrated with cuticle oil to maintain flexibility.
Avoid excessive tapping or pressure, even though BIAB is durable.
Book infills regularly to avoid lifting.
Don’t pick at lifted areas, as moisture can become trapped underneath.
Seek professional advice if you notice:
redness
swelling
pain
unusual discoloration (green/yellow)
lifting from the nail bed
signs of infection or allergic reaction
