Pre-Treatment Advice for Body Contouring & Post-Op Care

To get the best results from your body contouring or post-op care treatments, it’s important to prepare your body properly. Follow these guidelines to ensure your body is in the best shape for your upcoming treatment: 1. Hydration is Key: In the days leading up to your treatment, drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Staying hydrated helps your lymphatic system function properly and ensures a smoother process during your treatment. 2. Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine (Pre & Post): Avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 48 hours before and after your treatment. Both can dehydrate your body and affect your circulation, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment and slowing down recovery. 3. Eat Light, Healthy Meals: Stick to light, nutritious meals on the day of your treatment. Avoid heavy, greasy, or processed foods that could leave you feeling bloated or sluggish. 4. Wear Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. Tight clothing can cause unnecessary pressure on the areas being treated and may be uncomfortable post-treatment. 5. No Lotions or Oils on the Day of Treatment: Avoid applying any lotions, oils, or creams to the treatment area on the day of your appointment. Your skin should be clean and free of any products to allow for the best possible results. 6. Remove Piercings: Please remove any piercings in the treatment area, as they may interfere with the procedure or cause harm during the treatment. 7. Plan for Your Schedule: Make sure to schedule some time to rest after your treatment. While there may be minimal downtime, giving your body time to recover and relax will enhance the results. 8. Avoid Sun Exposure: Try to avoid excessive sun exposure, sunbathing, or tanning in the days leading up to your treatment. Sunburn or irritated skin can negatively impact the effectiveness of the treatment and increase discomfort. 9. Stay Active, But Light: Gentle exercise such as walking can help keep your lymphatic system moving, but avoid any intense workouts for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of swelling. 10. Check Your Medication: If you’re on any medications or have health conditions, consult with your doctor or specialist before the treatment to ensure there are no contraindications. 11. Come Prepared for Photos: For some treatments, we may take before-and-after photos to track your progress. Make sure you’re comfortable with this, or let us know if you’d prefer not to. Remember: Proper preparation ensures you get the most out of your body contouring or post-op treatments. Post-Treatment Advice for Body Contouring & Post-Op Care

Taking care of your body after your treatment is essential to achieve the best results. Follow these aftercare steps to ensure a smooth recovery and long-lasting results: 1. Hydrate! Continue to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily (or 2.5 litres) to help your body flush out toxins and reduce swelling. 2. Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine for 48 Hours: Steer clear of alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours after your treatment. Both can dehydrate your body and interfere with your body’s healing process, reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. 3. Rest & Take It Easy: Even though there’s minimal downtime with body contouring, take it easy for 1-2 days post-treatment. Avoid strenuous activity to allow your body to heal and adjust. 4. Compression Garments Are Essential: Wear your compression garments as instructed (usually 12-24 hours per day depending on the treatment). This will help reduce swelling, promote circulation, and shape your body as it heals. 5. Stick to a Healthy Diet: Continue to fuel your body with nutrient-dense foods. A balanced diet supports your body’s healing and enhances results. Disclaimer: I’m not a licensed nutritionist, but I can offer general advice based on my own experience. 6. Pain Relief: If you feel any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relief like ibuprofen or paracetamol can help. Be sure to follow the recommended dosage and consult with your healthcare provider if needed. 7. Gentle Showers Only: For the first 24-48 hours after treatment, stick to lukewarm showers and avoid hot baths, steam rooms, or hot tubs. Excess heat can irritate the treated area and slow down recovery. 8. Sun Protection: Your skin will be more sensitive after treatment, so be sure to apply SPF 30+ sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure. This helps prevent skin irritation and hyperpigmentation. 9. Leave Lymphatic Massage to the Professionals: If lymphatic drainage was part of your treatment, avoid massaging the treated areas yourself. It’s important to let your specialist handle this to ensure proper healing and best results. 10. Listen to Your Body: If you experience any unusual discomfort or something doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to reach out. Healing is different for everyone, and it’s important to pay attention to how your body feels. Remember: Aftercare is crucial for long-lasting, effective results. If you have any questions or concerns post-treatment, we’re always here to help guide you through the healing process.
