I began Retreat Beauty Room back in 2011 and built up a solid client base of loyal customers. However, after getting my dream job as cabin crew, I sadly had to close and relocate to Birmingham. Over COVID whilst furloughed I joined WMAS (West midlands ambulance service) on the student paramedic programme and qualified as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician).

Wanting to save money to buy a house, I returned to flying after COVID and I am now a cabin manager for short and longhaul flights.

Now 10 years later I have returned to Witham. I have greatly missed beauty therefore decided to reopen my home salon for luxury spa treatments.

I hope to welcome old and new clients.

I have been qualified for over 15 years.

My beauty qualifications include NVQ Level 2&3 in Beauty Therapy: General Route. VTCT Level 2&3 in Theatrical, Media, Fashion & Photographic Make Up. With extra qualifications covering spray tan, lash extensions, lash lift, nail extensions, ear candling, hot stone massage, Indian head massage, microdermabrasion, electrolysis, brow lamination and henna brows.

Due to my working hours as cabin crew I am sometimes unable to reply to requests promptly. There isn't much signal 30,000 ft in the sky. Please be assured I will get back to you as soon as I can. With this in mind my appointment availability is also extremely flexible. Do contact me with your preferences and I will endeavour to fit around you.

I fully understand that calling me may not be the most comfortable option for some. Text, WhatsApp, email or Direct Message is available.

I want visiting me to be a comfortable, relaxing experience and aim to provide this in whatever way I can.

Timings Treatment times are an approximate. Timings can be more or less depending on the client - their skin/hair type - the requested results etc. Timings include preparation and aftercare advice.

If you are late to your appointment, the full treatment time may not necessarily be provided due to availability. However full treatment prices will be charged. I will try to accommodate the full time where possible or rebook if desired. A holding fee may be charged to rebook an appointment a client was previously late for.

Cancellation Policy A holding fee may also be charged if a client has repeatedly not turned up for an appointment. Should you wish to cancel your appointment please ensure at least 24 hours notice is given. To provide a professional service to all clients, a cancellation fee may occur when appointments are not kept. This is typically 50% of the treatment price. A cancellation fee may occur depending on your circumstances, time of year (Christmas period), in demand times (Saturday Mornings) or treatment time blocked out/ high value treatment.

From prices Some treatments in waxing can depend on the client. For example a bikini wax. Some clients may only want a tidy to the underwear line. However others may prefer a Brazilian style wax. This would require a longer time slot and more product resulting in an additional charge.

Results All result lasting times are approximate. Every client is different and therefore every client reacts differently. How long the results of a treatment can last is also extremely dependent on a client's aftercare routine. With certain treatments it can take time to find the best fit for the client to achieve the longest results.

Patch Testing Certain treatments require a patch test. A patch test is required at least 24 hours prior to receiving these treatments: If it is your first time having this treatment. It is your first time having this treatment at RBR. If there has been a 6 month lapse between treatments or the original allergy test. If there has been a change to your medical history. This is important to ensure no allergic reactions occur. Once a patch test is performed, if the client does not adhere to aftercare advice, RBR cannot guarantee a reaction will not occur. If a treatment does then cause issues, the client assumes full responsibility. If a client refuses a patch test the treatment may be refused.

Consultation Certain treatments require a consultation form. This requires the client to be honest and open. If any information is withheld, this could result in an adverse effect. Any reactions of any kind to treatments would be required to be reported back to your therapist. A future treatment can then be altered. For example ordering in a different type of massage oil or trying a different brand of tint.

Payment RBR can accept cash, bank transfers or card charges. Due to processing fees, any payments made via card through the booking system do incur a service fee, this is typically 1.6% of the treatment cost + 30p. Amex or international cards cannot be accepted. If you do choose to pay via bank transfer this needs to be done within 24 hours of the treatment, otherwise your card will be charged plus the service charge.

Do you have insurance? Yes, as a responsible business I have full insurance from the beauty guild. My insurance certificate as well as my 2 main NVQ qualification certificates are on the wall of the treatment room. All other certificates for my qualifications are in a folder available for you to view. I will never perform a treatment I am not trained in.

I have allergies, do I need to tell you? Yes please. If you could let me know at the time of booking with at least 24 hours notice. This is so I can check the ingredients of the products I use. It then gives me time to research and purchase an alternative if required.

What's your experience? I first trained at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe 2007-2009, I then trained for a year at Retford international college for my makeup qualifications. I have attended various training since. I began working in village beauty salons. Was trade tested and hand picked to do work experience at Ragdale Hall. I have been a therapist in a busy spa environment at Bannatyne Spa in Solihull. Worked freelance as a make up artist. And previously worked in my home salon for nearly 3 years.

What makes you different to a beauty salon or spa? As I work for myself I have much more control in the products I use, the offers I put on and the treatments I do. This allows a lot more flexibility for my clients. As my salon is within my home I am able to open up at a moment's notice. Treatments are not rushed or under constraint. It enables a much more relaxed and customer focused atmosphere.

It says hours are flexible, how flexible? As the salon is within my home I can open it last minute (within reason). Due to my job as cabin crew I am used to starting work at 0430, 2100 or finishing at 0600. Working weekends & bank holidays. So traditional working hours are not in my DNA. You can come in before work, after the kids are in bed or even on a Sunday afternoon.

Can I tailor make a treatment? Yes! The benefit of me working for myself means I can change and adapt any treatment. If there is a part of one treatment you like, but want to add something different. Just ask me if it's possible.

How is the accessibility of the salon? Unfortunately the beauty room is on the first floor consisting of 13 stairs.

Is there parking? Yes, there is lots of off street parking on my driveway.

What is the difference between a Swedish massage and a deep tissue massage? A Swedish massage is a more relaxing traditional massage where the pressure is light to medium. A deep tissue massage adds in 'no hand' massage techniques and some joint manipulation, where the pressure is medium to firm. This can focus on problem areas, reduce knots and tension. If you've never had a massage before the Swedish or hot stone is a great one to try. If you do lots of sports, have been doing manual labor like gardening or decorating, or constantly have a bad back from sitting at a desk then a deep tissue would be more beneficial.

How about reflexology? I love having reflexology as a treatment and will be aiming to train in this. However the training is expensive and time consuming so I am waiting to build up a clientele before investing.

You used to do gel nails and false lashes, why not now? The way things are done has changed a lot since I was last open. Individual eyelash extensions are not as popular so would require retraining. In regards to nails, there are now dedicated nail technicians which do nails all day every day and are excellent at them, I'd rather leave it to the experts. With gel polish, It will be something I will offer in the future, however it requires me to build up a clientele and income to be able to invest.

It will be my first time visiting you, what happens? Once you arrive you'll be required to fill out a client record card with your basic information. If the treatment requires it, also a consultation sheet. We can then discuss the treatment and how it works. It will then be time to be pampered.

How often will you promote offers? I will try to have a new offer monthly. Unless it's peak times like Christmas.

It mentions giving a deposit? Yes, for certain treatments, time periods, or if you have had to cancel last minute repeatedly, deposits may be required. You will be required to enter card details when booking online. You will be charged a booking fee if you fail to attend your appointment. Life is expensive and as a business I cannot afford to lose out on earnings.
