Proper aftercare is essential to achieve the best results for Ombré Brows. Following the right post-care routine can make a big difference in pigment retention, healing time, and the final look. Here's a breakdown of what to expect during the healing process and how clients can care for their brows at each stage.
Immediate Aftercare: 14 Days Healing (timeframe may differ per person)
Right after the procedure, the brow area may look darker than expected, with slight swelling or redness. This initial intensity is normal and will soften as the brows heal.
- Apply a Light Layer of Aftercare Ointment (Aleo Vera Gel): Use from day 1, three times a day. Morning, Afternoon and Evening. Apply with clean cotton swab to avoid contamination.
- Avoid Water and Moisture: For 14 days, avoid getting the brows wet. This includes steam from hot showers, excessive sweating, and swimming, as moisture can interfere with pigment retention. if the brow get wet. Dab dry with a clean tissue.
Days 3-14: Early Healing and Scabbing
During these days, the brows will start to form tiny scabs or a light peeling layer. The colour may look darker than expected, and the brows might feel tight or slightly itchy as they heal.
- No Picking or Scratching: Let scabs or flakes shed naturally. Picking at scabs can lead to uneven pigment retention and potential scarring,
- Avoid Sweating and Direct Sun Exposure: Sun exposure can fade pigment, especially while it's settling, and sweating may cause premature pigment loss. Clients should also avoid saunas, tanning beds, and other sources of heat.
Days 14-21: Colour Softening and Shedding
After the initial scabbing phase, clients may notice a lighter, more muted brow color. This is part of the healing process, as new skin layers form over the pigment, temporarily dulling the color.
- Moisturize if Needed: As the skin feels less tender, clients can apply a hydrating but non- greasy moisturizer recommended by their technician. Avoid heavy creams, as they can smother the area.
- Avoid Makeup on the Brows: Keep makeup off the brow area until fully healed to avoid irritation and bacterial contamination.
Weeks 6-8: Final Healing and ongoing care
At this point, the brows should be fully healed. The colour will appear more even, and any patchiness or unevenness will be topped up during your clients 4-6 weeks top up session. This is when the final look can be assessed.
- Use Sunscreen: Protect the brows from UV exposure with a high SPF to maintain color integrity long-term. UV rays can cause pigments to fade prematurely
- Avoid Harsh Products: Steer clear of exfoliating acids or retinoids around the brow area, as these can thin the skin and fade pigments over time.
What Clients Can Expect Over Time
- Initial Colour: The brows will appear darker and bolder right after the procedure, then gradually soften over the next few weeks.
- Shedding and Lightening: As scabs naturally shed, the brows may look uneven. Colour will lighten, and any adjustments can be made at their touch-up appointment.
- Long-Term Fading: While Ombré Brows are semi-permanent, they'll naturally fade over 2 - 3 years, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Oily skin may experience quicker fading, while dry skin may retain pigment longer.
