At SVM Veterinary Physiotherapy, I provide tailored veterinary physiotherapy to support horses through every stage of life — from leisure horses and companions to performance and competition athletes.
Horses place significant physical demands on their bodies, and maintaining healthy movement is essential for their comfort, wellbeing and performance. Each horse is assessed individually, with treatments tailored around their lifestyle, discipline, workload and goals.
Veterinary physiotherapy can support:
✓ Recovery following injury or surgery ✓ Muscle strength, flexibility and mobility ✓ Balance, symmetry and movement quality ✓ Comfort in older horses ✓ Maintenance and performance support for competition horses
Physiotherapy is not only for horses experiencing problems; it can also be a valuable part of a proactive maintenance programme to help keep horses comfortable, moving well and performing consistently.
First Appointment
Your horse’s first physiotherapy appointment lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes a detailed assessment of their movement, history, workload and individual needs.
Treatment will usually begin during this session and may include hands-on therapy, electrotherapies, exercises and management advice to support progress.
Follow-up Appointments
Follow-up sessions typically last 60 minutes and are adapted depending on your horse’s progress and goals.
Appointments may include continued hands-on therapy, electrotherapies, exercise progression and maintenance support.
