I'm Jules, the WaterWitch of York.

For over 20 years, I've supported women through the cycles, challenges, and transitions that life brings. My work weaves together therapeutic massage, yoga therapy, womb yoga, reiki, and compassionate coaching to create spaces where women can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and begin to heal from the inside out.

Healing isn't about fixing yourself—it's about remembering who you are beneath the stress, the expectations, and the constant doing.

That's why I've created a supportive online community on Skool—a nurturing space where women can reconnect with their bodies and restore balance at their own pace.

    Some women wait until their body forces the issue. The headaches keep returning, your shoulders sit somewhere near your ears, sleep feels light and broken, and even small tasks begin to feel heavy. At that point, massage therapy for women's health is not a luxury add-on. It can be a steady, practical form of support when your body is carrying far more than it should.

    Women often live with layers of tension that build quietly over time. Work stress, caring responsibilities, hormonal shifts, poor sleep, pregnancy, recovery after birth, anxiety, grief, and the simple pressure of always being needed can all settle into the muscles and nervous system. You may feel it as back pain, jaw tension, tired hips, tight shoulders, shallow breathing, or a sense that you have drifted away from yourself a little.

    A good massage does more than work on sore muscles. It gives your system a chance to soften. It creates a pause. It reminds the body that it is safe enough to let go, even if only for an hour. That is often where real change begins.

    Why massage therapy for women's health feels different

    Women-centred massage is not only about technique. It is about being treated in a way that reflects your life, your body, and what you are carrying. The session is shaped around your needs rather than asking you to fit into a standard treatment.

    That matters because women's health is rarely one-dimensional.     For many women, the middle stretch of life brings a difficult combination of professional pressure, family demands and very little genuine rest. You might be functioning well on the outside while feeling tightly wound underneath. Massage can help reduce the build-up before it becomes burnout. Regular sessions often support better sleep, fewer tension headaches, easier movement and a stronger sense of being back in your own body.

    During pregnancy

    Pregnancy changes everything from posture to circulation to sleep. Hips and lower back can feel under strain, shoulders can tighten, and swelling or general heaviness can leave you feeling unlike yourself. Pregnancy massage offers support that is both physical and deeply calming. The aim is not simply to relieve discomfort, but to help you feel held during a time of rapid change.

    Of course, pregnancy massage should always be adapted carefully. Positioning, pressure and timing matter. What feels good in one trimester may not suit another, so a thoughtful, experienced approach is essential.

    After birth

    Postnatal recovery is often spoken about far less than it should be. Your body may be sore, tired, hormonally stretched and touched out all at once. Feeding, lifting, broken sleep and the emotional intensity of caring for a new baby can leave many women depleted. Massage in this season can help ease neck, shoulder and back tension while offering something equally needed - a moment where you are the one being cared for.

    During periods of hormonal change

    Hormonal shifts can bring fatigue, irritability, interrupted sleep, fluid retention and a heightened sense of physical discomfort. Massage is not a cure for hormonal imbalance, and it should never replace medical care where that is needed. But it can be a valuable support alongside other approaches, helping the body settle and making symptoms feel more manageable.

    Choosing the right kind of massage

    Not every woman wants the same pressure, pace or focus. Sometimes deep tissue work is exactly what helps, especially where long-standing tension, postural strain or muscular tightness are involved. At other times, a gentler holistic treatment is the better choice, particularly if your system feels overwhelmed, anxious or emotionally raw.

    There is no prize for choosing the firmest treatment. Deeper is not always better. If your body is already in a state of guarding, too much pressure can feel like one more demand. Equally, if you have a very specific area of chronic tightness, lighter work may not quite reach what needs support. The best treatment depends on your body on that day, not on what sounds impressive.

    For some women, treatments that include an energy-based element such as Reiki can also feel helpful. This tends to suit those who are carrying emotional fatigue, stress or a sense of disconnection as much as physical pain. You do not need to be deeply spiritual to benefit. Often it is simply experienced as a quieter, more settling kind of care.

    What a good session should feel like

    You should feel welcomed, listened to and safe. That sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference. A therapeutic massage for women should begin with conversation - what is hurting, what feels tender, what kind of support you need, and whether today calls for deeper release or gentler restoration.
