Thank you for visiting By Sarah Louise. I hope your treatment left you feeling relaxed, lighter and restored.
Here are some simple aftercare steps to help you get the most from your massage over the next 24–48 hours:
💧 1. Drink Plenty of Water
Massage supports lymphatic flow and helps the body flush out waste. Staying hydrated will:
🛌 2. Rest & Listen to Your Body
It’s normal to feel deeply relaxed, sleepy or a little emotional after a massage — this is simply your nervous system resetting.
Try to take it easy for the rest of the day and give your body time to respond to the treatment.
🔥 3. Avoid Heat for 24 Hours
Hot baths, saunas, sunbeds and hot tubs can make you feel light-headed after a massage, so it’s best to avoid them until the next day.
🍷 4. Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine
Your body is working to rebalance and detoxify. Alcohol and caffeine can dehydrate you and may increase tension, so try to keep both to a minimum for 24 hours.
🚫 5. No Intense Exercise Today
Heavy workouts or high-intensity training can place strain on muscles that have just been relaxed.
Gentle walking or stretching is fine, but leave anything strenuous until tomorrow.
🌿 6. Keep Warm & Comfortable
After massage, your circulation is boosted and your body is in “rest” mode. Keeping warm helps your muscles stay relaxed and prevents tension from creeping back in.
7. You May Feel Slight Tenderness
This is completely normal, especially after deeper or sculpting techniques.
Any tenderness should fade within 24–48 hours and drinking water will help.
 8. Prioritise Sleep Tonight
Your body will be in a deeply relaxed state, so it’s a perfect time to create a calming evening routine:
📆 9. Book Your Next Treatment
Regular massage helps maintain long-term results, reduces stress and supports the lymphatic system.
Most clients benefit from booking every 2–4 weeks depending on their lifestyle and goals.
