Aftercare

Aftercare - what to do before, after and between waxes!

Don’t hold yourself back from amazing results!

Waxing doesn’t end when you leave the studio — aftercare plays a crucial role in how your skin heals and how long your results last. A few simple steps can make all the difference!

Before Your Wax:

  • Allow hair to be around ¼ inch (about a grain of rice) long, this means at least 3 weeks after shaving and at least 4 weeks after waxing!
  • Gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before your appointment
  • Avoid tanning, sunbeds, or self-tan for at least 24 hours prior
  • Keep the area clean and product-free on the day
  • Avoid exfoliating or using active products on the day of your wax
  • Avoid heavy sweating right before your wax! If you head to the gym before your wax make sure to take a shower before you come in to avoid chances of infection

Right After Your Wax (First 24–48 Hours)

Your skin is more sensitive immediately after waxing and your follicles are exposed, so be gentle!

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming
  • Avoid gym workouts, sweating, intercourse and friction
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing
  • Avoid perfumed products, deodorants, oils, or active skincare, this includes any type of exfoliation and any active ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, etc.
  • Do not touch the area unnecessarily
  • Mild redness is totally normal and should settle quickly
  • Avoid steamy showers, keep water warm and not hot!
  • Avoid intercourse after a brazilian, the friction and fluids can increase risk of infection!

Between Waxes (Ongoing Care)

Consistent aftercare keeps skin smooth and prevents ingrowns!

  • Begin gentle exfoliation 2–3 times per week after 3 days
  • Apply a light, soothing moisturiser daily
  • Use ingrown-prevention products if recommended
  • Avoid shaving between appointments where possible
  • Maintain a regular waxing schedule for best results
  • Keep the skin hydrated and protected from friction

Important Notes

  • Everyone’s skin is different — reactions can vary
  • If irritation persists or you’re unsure about a product, please ask
  • Proper aftercare = smoother skin, fewer ingrowns, better results

If you ever have questions about your skin or aftercare, I’m always happy to advise, don't hesitate to contact me regarding any questions at all about waxing, products, aftercare, etc!

FAQs

How long does my hair need to be?

- your hair should be at least 1/4 inch or a grain of rice long, this allows the wax to grip hair properly and give better results.

Is waxing painful?

-Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but most clients find it very manageable. I get people telling me all the time ‘that was the quickest easiest and most comfortable wax I’ve ever had!’

Can I wax during my period?

Of course you can! I just ask that you wear a tampon or menstrual cup for your wax, I also provide tampons at the studio. Please note that your skin and pain tolerance will likely be more sensitive around your period

Can I wax if I’m pregnant or plus sized?

Of course! you can wax like normal, however the positioning for the wax may differ slightly depending on how big your bump is and/or how much you can move but don’t worry I’ll guide you through :)

How often should I wax?

Most clients wax every 4–6 weeks. Keeping a regular schedule helps reduce regrowth and makes treatments more comfortable and hair weaker and thinner over time.

What should I avoid before my appointment?

Avoid tanning, sun exposure, exfoliating, or using active skincare on the area for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

What should I avoid after my wax?

For the first 24–48 hours, avoid heat, sweating, swimming, tight clothing, and perfumed products. Full aftercare guidance can be found on the Aftercare page!

Will I get ingrown hairs?

Proper aftercare and regular exfoliation greatly reduce the chance of ingrown hairs. I’m always happy to advise on suitable products and routines!

Is waxing hygienic?

Yes. Treatments are carried out in a clean, professional environment using very strict hygiene standards. Double dipping is a big no-no and all my tools and bed are sanitised between every client

What if I’m nervous or it’s my first time?

That’s completely normal. I aim to create a calm, private, and judgement-free environment! Everything is explained clearly, and your comfort is always the priority!

Still have questions?

If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch before booking — I’m always happy to help!
