Create an Educational Carousel With Hook
Objective
Carousels are key when it comes to engaging content. They generate 12% more engagement than Reels, and 2.14× more than single-image posts, as well as generating the highest number of saves amongst content types.
This week, we're going to pair an educational carousel with a powerful and engaging 'hook'. This not only draws people into your content, but also gives you the opportunity to show off your expertise.
What's a hook?
An Instagram hook is the eye-catching element that grabs attention at the very start of your post, usually within the first few seconds. Its purpose is to stop users from scrolling and draw them into your content. A hook can be a question, a bold statement, a surprising visual, or a relatable moment that sparks curiosity, emotion, or promises value, helping boost both engagement and reach.
Decide on your hook
Here are five example hooks that help stop the scroll:
“This mistake cost me months of progress”
“Here’s what nobody tells you about XXX”
“The truth about XXX”
“This product that changed everything for me”
“The 3 common mistakes ruining your manicure”
Choose your content
Carousels are great when it comes to educational content. Not only do they result in the highest engagement, they are also a great option when you want to share key messages or education to your followers.
As an example, you could focus on educating clients on prep or aftercare for their treatment. This shows you're an expert in your field, but also helps ensure your clients are well prepared for their appointment.

Slide 2: Mistake #1
❌ Skipping Exfoliation Beforehand
📝 Dead skin cells = patchy, uneven tan.
✔️ Fix: Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment for the smoothest base.
Slide 3 – Mistake #2
❌ Wearing Tight Clothes Afterward
📝 Tight straps and seams can rub off fresh colour.
✔️ Fix: Wear loose, dark clothing to protect your glow.
Slide 4 – Mistake #3
❌ Not Moisturising Daily
📝 Dry skin causes your tan to fade faster and look uneven.
✔️ Fix: Apply a lightweight moisturiser every day to extend your glow.
