You're in good company.
For many people, this is their first experience of guided relaxation and sound, so it's normal to feel curious or a little unsure.
Whether it's your first visit or you simply like to know what to expect, I've put everything together below to help you feel prepared and at ease before your Kindred experience.
It's normal to feel curious or feel a little unsure.
The good news? There's nothing special you need to know before you arrive.
You don't need any previous experience. You don't need to be a master meditator. You don't need to be spiritual.
Just come exactly as you are.
You may have heard the term sound bath before.
Despite the name, there's no water, no bubbles, no rubber ducks and definitely no need to bring a towel!
At Kindred, I prefer the term experience or session as they better reflect what you'll find here.
Whether they're referred to as sound baths, journeys or relaxation sessions, my focus is on creating experiences that help you slow down, switch off from the outside world and give yourself permission to rest.
Whether a 1:1 or group experience, you'll be welcomed into a calm, comfortable space where there's no rush and no expectations.
We'll spend a few minutes chatting, answering any questions you may have and making sure you're comfortable before we begin.
Every kindred experience is tailored to you (even groups).
Before we begin, I'll explain the optional elements and you'll be invited to choose what feels right for you using simple comfort cards.
Some of the elements include: • Aromatherapy oil • Light touch • Individual nearby sound
Or simply enjoy the experience without. There's never any pressure to say yes, your comfort comes first.
We'll begin with a gentle, guided relaxation, giving your mind a chance to leave the outside world behind.
From there, you'll experience a calming sound journey using a variety of carefully chosen instruments, including crystal singing bowls and chimes.
Every part of your experience has been thoughtfully designed with one thing in mind...
Helping you stay gently reconnect to the present moment and rest.
Rather than expecting you to empty your mind, the experience simply gives it something to focus on, making it easier to let go of the outside world for a little while.
If you're already wondering whether you'll spend the whole experience thinking about what's for tea, mentally replying to emails or planning tomorrows to-do list...
You're not alone.
Many people arrive thinking they're "just not very good at relaxing"
The truth is you don't have to do anything perfectly.
If thoughts pop up, that's completely normal.
Every experience is designed to gently guide your attention back whenever your mind wanders.
There isn't a right or wrong way to experience Kindred, just give yourself permission to rest.
Absolutely.
Some people stay awake throughout.
Some drift in and out of sleep.
Some fall in to deep states of relaxation.
Every experience is different and there's no right or wrong way to relax.
If you do nod off, I will take it as a compliment.
We'll take our time returning to the room before your experience comes to a gentle close.
You're welcome to stay for a comforting herbal tea, giving yourself a few extra moments to ease back into the day.
I advise you bring anything that will help you feel comfortable and relax more easily.
For group experiences: • A yoga mat or something to lie on • Blanket(s) • Pillow • Eye mask (optional) • Fluffy socks (optional) • Water
For 1:1 experiences: Everything will be provided, but you're welcome to bring anything that helps you feel at ease, such as a favourite blanket, pillow or fluffy socks.
For your comfort, I recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing.
Most importantly...
Bring yourself exactly as you are.
If sitting quietly with your thoughts sounds more stressful than relaxing...you're probably in the right place.
Kindred was created for people with overflowing to-do lists, busy lives and minds.
Whether you're looking for a regular moment of calm, trying something new, or simply taking some time for yourself.
However you arrive there's a place for you here.
