CryoPen Skin Lesion Removal
Targeted treatment for suitable benign skin lesions
CryoPen is a targeted cryotherapy treatment used to treat certain suitable benign skin lesions. It uses a controlled jet of nitrous oxide to freeze the selected area, allowing the treated tissue to gradually break down and be removed as the skin heals.
At The Waxing Company, your skin is assessed before treatment to ensure CryoPen is appropriate. If a lesion is uncertain, changing or requires further assessment, removal will not be carried out and you will be advised about the most appropriate next step.
What can CryoPen be used for?
Depending on assessment, CryoPen may be suitable for certain benign lesions, including:
- Skin tags
- Warts and verrucas
- Certain age spots and sun spots
- Some cherry angiomas
- Other suitable benign skin lesions
Treatment suitability depends on the individual lesion, its appearance and location.
What happens during treatment?
The treatment is quick and targeted, with the CryoPen directed precisely at the area being treated.
You may experience a brief stinging, tingling or cold sensation during treatment. The area may become red, swollen or develop a small blister or scab afterwards as part of the normal healing process.
Healing varies depending on the lesion and treatment area, but you will be given clear aftercare advice to help you look after the area while it heals.
Worried about a mole or changing skin lesion?
CryoPen is not used to remove suspicious or undiagnosed lesions.
If you have a mole or skin lesion that has changed in size, shape or colour, is bleeding, itching or otherwise concerning, assessment should come before removal.
If you are unsure what a lesion is, please get in touch before booking. Where appropriate, Map My Mole may provide a useful screening option, or you may be advised to seek assessment through your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional.
