1. EXFOLIATION, HYDRATION & RADIANCE
Treatments that work on the skin’s surface can help refresh a dull complexion and improve superficial texture.
- Microdermabrasion mechanically exfoliates dead skin cells, helping the complexion appear smoother, brighter and more even.
- HydroFacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, suction-assisted pore cleansing and hydrating solutions to address superficial congestion and dehydration.
- Dermaplaning gently removes surface dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, leaving the skin feeling smoother and creating a more even base for makeup.
- Skin peels use carefully selected acids to exfoliate the skin. Depending on the formulation and strength, they may help with uneven pigmentation, congestion, fine lines and texture.
2. MICRONEEDLING & PRP
For concerns such as acne scarring, fine lines and changes in texture, treatments that stimulate the skin’s repair response may be considered.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production, helping improve certain scars and skin texture over a course of treatments.
PRP — platelet-rich plasma — uses a concentrated portion of your own blood containing platelets and growth factors. It is used in some skin rejuvenation treatments, although evidence for cosmetic benefits is still developing and results vary.
3. SKIN BOOSTERS, POLYNUCLEOTIDES & PDRN
These injectable treatments have different formulations and purposes.
Skin boosters commonly contain hyaluronic acid, which attracts and retains water. They aim to improve hydration, smoothness and skin quality. Some formulations also contain amino acids or other ingredients; not all contain vitamins.
Polynucleotides, often shortened to PN, are purified DNA-derived molecules studied for their potential to improve skin texture, elasticity and fine lines.
PDRN — polydeoxyribonucleotide — is a related DNA-derived ingredient investigated for tissue repair and skin rejuvenation. PN and PDRN are often grouped together, but they are not interchangeable formulations.
You may have heard these described as “salmon DNA” treatments, because many products use highly purified DNA fragments sourced from salmon or trout. This describes their origin, rather than a separate treatment category. Early research is promising, but stronger evidence is still needed, and benefits depend on the specific product and treatment approach.

Consistent skincare supports the results of professional treatments. A suitable cleanser, moisturiser and daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher provide a foundation, with targeted ingredients introduced according to your skin’s needs and tolerance.
Sleep, balanced nutrition and avoiding smoking also support skin health. More treatments or stronger products are not always better, particularly when the skin barrier is irritated.

Many people are put off or fearful of aesthetic treatments as they worry that their results will not appear natural. I understand these concerns and I do think that if I did not work in aesthetics I would feel exactly the same way.
The other thing which can be a little unnerving when scrolling through before/after pictures on social media of ‘natural looking’ results is when they are anything but. What one practitioner’s definition of ‘natural’ is can certainly vary to the next.
This is why the aesthetic consultation is such an important part of the whole process.
When you attend your aesthetic consultation, it is crucial that by the end you feel confident that your practitioner has a complete understanding of what you want and how you want to look. You should be given the time to explain exactly what it is you are seeking. You should never feel rushed and you should never feel coerced into proceeding with treatment. If you feel that your practitioner doesn’t truly have your best interests at heart then do not go ahead, regardless of how good the deal appears or how much you want to have your treatment. Keep on looking, read reviews, ask family or friends for recommendations and ask to look at before and after pictures before you go ahead.
So what does ‘natural look’ mean to me?
My own view of natural-looking results is being able to address an individual’s facial aesthetic concern in a way which would not be obvious to others. If a result is distracting to the eye this can often appear unnatural. Now if an individual actually wants their treatment with dermal filler to appear obvious that is their choice however my clients in general want effective results in a completely natural-looking way. Having a lightness of touch when it comes to injecting with dermal filler treatments and knowing when to stop is key here.
What does a natural look mean to you?
Would you not want a single other soul to be able to tell you have had Botox or filler? Would you not mind if your friends and family could tell but mind if a stranger could? Would you not mind if everyone could tell so long as you still looked good? These are all things clients have said to me when they have initially stated they want to look natural and it would be worth just considering some of these points before your aesthetic consultation.
Are there any treatments in particular where people want more and more?
Without a doubt, the one treatment where even the most cautious clients are tempted by further treatments is lip filler. It seems to be the one area where people can start losing sight of what is normal and natural-looking for them as they really like the fuller shape! I do want to stress here though it is not the clients fault- it is just really hard being truly objective when you look at yourself in the mirror and that is why you should see an aesthetic practitioner who will give you the best advice for you even if this means saying no!

Can you see any wrinkles or do they only appear when you make an expression such as frowning or laughing?
This is a very important distinction to make when it comes to wrinkles. If your frown line remains visible even when you have stopped frowning this is a static wrinkle. This is different to a dynamic wrinkle which only appears when you use that particular muscle.
It is really important to know this as dynamic wrinkles respond much better to anti-wrinkle injections. When a wrinkle is present at all times this means that it is within the skin. Botox acts on muscles, not the skin. Botox will prevent static wrinkles from worsening by stopping the muscle from creasing up.
However it is important to bear in mind that the lines will soften but they might not disappear completely, especially if they are very deep. The best chance of removing a static line is when they first start to appear as over time the skin weakens and is less able to bounce back.
What will remove deep static wrinkles?
Static wrinkles can be treated with dermal filler. Imagine someone who has a very deep frown line. Botox will stop the line from worsening as it will prevent the muscle responsible for frowning contracting. Dermal filler can then be used to plump up the line within the skin itself. This is one example of how botox and dermal filler can work very well together.
Are there any other reasons why Botox will not work?
Very occasionally some people produce antibodies to anti-wrinkle injections which results in their treatment not working. Your practitioner should be able to identify this and help you accordingly.

Having radiant and glowing skin is a priority for many people when it comes to their beauty goals. There are a huge array of highlighters and illuminating creams on the market which aim to mimic the ‘lit from within’ dewy look so sought after. In this blog I will talk about other ways you can help your skin to achieve that highlighted look.
1. Cheek – bone filler. Having high cheekbones is known to make people appear more attractive as the triangle of beauty is defined by a full and wide mid-face. When light hits the face, those with high cheek-bones instantly have a highlighted appearance and the resulting ‘glow’. I use hyaluronic acid dermal filler to sculpt the cheeks and to provide more definition in a natural-looking way. The amount of dermal filler required varies from person to person but on average ranges from 1-2 mls in total. Numbing cream is first applied, then the skin is cleansed and I mark the areas that are to be treated. The procedure can take up to 40minutes. Results are instant and can last up to two years.
2. Polynucleotides - an injectable treatments used to support skin quality. For suitable clients, they may help improve the appearance of hydration, texture and elasticity over time.
The aim is a subtle, healthier-looking complexion—not instant shine or added facial volume.
3. Skin care. Applying skincare containing antioxidants helps defend against free radicals and stress which can make the skin appear dull. Look out for skin care containing resveratrol and vitamin C which are two examples of antioxidants. They also help to prevent lines, wrinkles and sagging caused by pollution in the environment.

A lot of people I see tell me they wish to look less tired and more refreshed. Some people are told they look tired by others when they’re not or think this themselves when they look in the mirror. There are certain signs on the face which cause a person to appear tired and when treated, give a rested appearance.
Little tweaks to carefully selected sites can impact a huge amount on how someone is perceived. Again it is really important to me that a client does not appear ‘done’ but just looks better, almost like they’ve been away on a really relaxing holiday.
In this blog I go through three different treatments which can help treat the tired look however not everyone will require all treatments and that is why it is important to have a thorough and detailed consultation to discuss your own specific concerns to formulate your own personal treatment plan
1. NOSE TO MOUTH LINES. These give a drawn appearance to the face and directs the view downwards. It often occurs due to volume loss in the cheek area. Filler in the nose to mouth line is a very simple and effective way of freshening someone up. Dermal filler in the cheeks will help the nose to mouth lines in people who have lost volume there due to the lifting effect.
2. MARIONETTE LINES. These are the lines that develop from the corners of the mouth downwards towards the chin. Again they occur due to volume loss in the face which causes the skin and tissues to drop. It results in someone looking tired, drawn and also can project sadness. Filler is used to lift the corners of the mouth. This is very effective and instantly makes the person being treated look fresher and even happier as the corners of the mouth are now no longer dropping.
Every person is different and these are general rules on why someone may have a tired appearance. During the consultation a treatment plan is created tailored to the individual’s own features and concerns. This tailored treatment results in the best results and happy clients!
For a lot of people, looking more attractive is an important factor when it comes to having aesthetic treatments. There are some general features that attractive people share and this blog will discuss that and how aesthetic treatments can achieve this in a natural-looking way.
Before I start though, I want to discuss something which I hear from time to time. There are some people who are just against aesthetic treatments full stop. These people are not only against them but they seem to take delight in telling others just how much they are against them too. ‘Grow old gracefully’, ‘it’s just vanity’ are sadly comments which we tend to hear.
I strongly believe that wanting to look the best you can is a natural human desire and is something we humans have wanted since we have been around! If a person chooses to spend their money on designer clothes or make-up to give them that feeling then who are we to judge? Similarly if someone is really bothered about that frown line that they see every day in the mirror and wishes to do something about it, is there really any difference in these two people when it comes to their desires and wants?
The point I am trying to make is that wanting to look more attractive shouldn’t be considered superficial. Our self- image runs deep within our psyche and the positive effect of looking and feeling better on our psychological state is not to be underestimated.
Ok so back to looking more attractive. Below are features that attractive people share and I discuss how this can be achieved in the right hands.

- Microneedling Stimulates collagen production to help improve skin texture, fine lines and the appearance of acne scars.

- Polynucleotides May help improve skin texture, elasticity and fine lines. Results vary, and research into their benefits is still developing.
Finally it is important to state that every person is different and these are general rules about attractiveness which may not apply to everyone. During the consultation a treatment plan is created tailored to the individual’s own features.
Many of us have seen pictures of bad lip fillers as they are sadly quite common; over-inflated, lumpy, swollen and asymmetrical lips are seen frequently on the internet. Also peoples definition of what constitutes natural-looking lip filler can vary dramatically. To me natural-looking lip filler is when a lip has been enhanced in such a way that an individual appears more beautiful without others being able to tell that filler has been placed.
Here are the top 5 myths people have when it comes to lip fillers which I will explore in more detail to offer some clarity. This will hopefully provide you with some reassurance if this is something you are considering.
1.I WILL HAVE A TROUT POUT
This has to be one of the biggest concerns from those I see. Unfortunately over-filled lips are very common and understandable off-putting for those who do want to enhance their lips naturally. However lips can be injected in a way that provides a completely natural result where no one else can tell that filler has been placed and which will give you the result you have been seeking. This is done through careful selection of sites and doses.
2. LIP FILLERS REALLY REALLY REALLY HURT!
Again this is very high up in the list of concerns about lip filler. I have injected countless lips and I haven’t yet encountered a person who has been unable to tolerate the procedure. Even if someone does find it uncomfortable it usually doesn’t stop them from coming back the following year for a repeat procedure as they love the results so much. I use local anaesthetic cream and the filler also contains lidocaine which numbs the lips. Injecting technique is also important. Being gentle and injecting small amounts at a time helps enormously.
3. MY LIPS WILL GO LUMPY
Sometimes the filler can collect into lumps. Simple massage during the procedure prevents lumps from forming. I always ensure that my client cannot feel any lumps before they leave and this is usually enough however if on the rare occasion a lump does develop afterwards, again massage works very well. You should ensure that your practitioner would be able to see you again if you had any concerns.
4. FILLER IS ONLY FOR THIN LIPS
Having thin lips is a very common reason for people to have lip filler however there are other reasons a person may seek out treatment. These include providing definition to the lip border (as this is something we lose with age), definition to the cupids bow, treating down-turning of the lip corners, asymmetry and correcting proportions.
5. ONCE YOU START HAVING LIP FILLER YOU WILL NEED TO CONTINUE AS YOUR LIPS WILL STRETCH AND SAG
This is not true. In fact rather than sagging the opposite is likely to occur as lip injections actually stimulate collagen production making the skin firmer and appear more youthful. Over time your natural enzymes will break down the filler gradually leaving no sagging due to the increased collagen production.
Having good bone structure is a huge determining factor in how well someone is going to age. Cheekbones are like scaffolding for the face. They help preserve the mid-face and also play a role in how the lower part of the face looks.
Treating the mid face with cheek bone filler has many benefits:
- It can help improve the tear trough through its lifting effect. The tear trough is the hollow which develops under the eye area. This can be made worse with loss of volume in the medial cheek fat pad as there is no longer any support. By injecting dermal filler along the cheek bone and into the medial cheek fat pad there is immediate improvement in how this area looks.
- Helps to restore the beauty point of the face thereby making someone appear more attractive. The beauty point is the highest point on the cheekbone where the light hits. Our brains subconsciously relate this feature to a more youthful and attractive face.
- Softens/treats the naso-labial fold. This is the line that runs from the nose to mouth and as the cheek is lifted this also improves.
- Improves the marionette lines. These are the lines that develop from the corner of the mouth downwards and improve due to the lifting effect from the cheek.
- Can also improve the appearance of jowls through the lifting effect for a more defined jawline.
- Contouring with make-up just got a whole lot easier!
As always, the aim is to provide natural-looking results. You still look like you and not like someone who has obviously had filler. You may have seen pictures of celebrities with over-filled ‘pillow’ faces and this is the opposite of what should and can be achieved. In the right hands a cheek enhancement with dermal filler can give you stunning results.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CONSULTATION?
Your facial aesthetic queries and aims are discussed and treatment options provided after assessment of your facial shape including the amount of volume loss and through assessment of your face in motion eg. when smiling. The type of filler and amount of filler required is also discussed in the initial appointment. Younger clients may only require 1ml in total whereas other may need 1ml per cheek.
CAN MEN HAVE FILLER IN THEIR CHEEKS?
Yes. Men also can benefit from cheek enhancement; the location of the filler does differ from women and it is important you see someone who appreciates this.
WHICH FILLERS ARE USED?
I use a variety established branded range of hyaluronic acid fillers. These are reversible and can be used to provide structure to the face. One of my favourite fillers for cheeks is called Voluma. This provides fantastic structure yet also feels incredibly natural.
HOW LONG DO FILLERS LAST?
The standard quality lasts 6-9months and the longer lasting range lasts 12-18 months.
IS IT PAINFUL?
This is not a painful procedure. I apply numbing cream for at least 15 minutes prior to the procedure and this helps significantly but the cheeks are not a particularly sensitive area. The filler itself also contains a local anaesthetic called lidocaine and the vast majority of people tolerate the procedure very well.
WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CHEEK FILLER?
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding
- If you already have strong facial bone structure and having filler would make you look ‘done’. In such cases where there are signs of volume loss in the lower face a direct approach here is better.
