Massage

1. Water is your Best friend! - A huge piece of advice would be to drink plenty of water. Why is this so important? Well let us explain! After your massage, the pent-up toxins may not fully have been eradicated from your body. Drinking water can help the kidneys, as well as other organs, process numerous substances that travel through the body on a regular basis. Massages can also be quite dehydrating. They usually take place in a nice warm environment and your massage therapist is actively encouraging your soft tissues to expel water. So the best thing to do after a massage is to have a lovely long drink of water to get your hydration back up. 2. Stay Relaxed! - For best results and the best way to capitalise on the post-massage feeling is to actively choose to stay relaxed! Take some time for your own self-care! 3. Avoid alcohol and Caffeine. - Our advice would be to stay away from the above for at-least twelve hours after massage. Both substances are very dehydrating and therefore slowing down the body’s process of eliminating toxins from the body. Massage is like exercise for the body! New oxygenated blood is now rushing around the body. Stay hydrated and take it easy! 4. Healing Crisis. - Herxheimer Reaction,” aka healing crisis is a medical condition that can occur when one chooses a path of healing. A healing crisis occurs when cells release metabolic waste too quickly into the system and the organs cannot eliminate the waste fast enough. The metabolic waste gets recycled over and over again in the body. Symptoms may be subtle or severe including headache, soreness, nausea, fatigue, fever, stomach distress, rash, skin eruptions and other conditions. This is completely normal and symptoms will return to normal 24-72hrs of the treatment. 5. Muscle Soreness. - If you have not had a massage in a long time or if you’ve had a deep tissue massage, you may feel some soreness in the coming days. This will ease and should never be painful. Ice packs or hot baths are a great way to speed up recovery. 6. Bask in those oils!! - Leave those oils on as long as possible! Allow the essential oils to penetrate deeply into the blood stream and work their healing magic!
