Before Any Treatment
Eat a light meal 1–2 hours beforehand. Avoid a heavy meal immediately before your appointment.
Stay well hydrated — drink water throughout the day.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your session.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing you don't mind oils potentially contacting.
Inform Dr Balure of any recent health changes, new medications, or skin conditions prior to treatment.
Arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow yourself time to relax and complete any required intake forms.
After Any Treatment
Rest and allow your body time to integrate the therapy — avoid strenuous physical activity for the remainder of the day.
Drink warm water or herbal tea to support detoxification and lymphatic flow.
Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after your treatment.
Eat a light, easily digestible meal afterwards (warm, cooked foods are ideal).
Keep warm and avoid cold winds or air conditioning directly after treatment.
Individual Therapy Before & Aftercare
1. Abhyanga — Ayurvedic Full Body Herbal Oil Massage
(60 minutes | Currently available for female clients only)
Before:
Avoid shaving the treatment area on the day of your appointment to prevent skin sensitivity.
Do not apply body lotions, oils, or creams before your session.
Avoid heavy exercise on the day of treatment.
Inform the practitioner of any skin allergies or sensitivities, particularly to sesame or herbal oils.
Come with an open mind and willingness to rest — Abhyanga works best when the nervous system is calm.
After:
Leave the oil on the skin for at least 30–60 minutes after treatment if possible, or follow the practitioner's guidance — the residual oil continues to nourish the skin and tissues.
Take a warm (not hot) shower after the recommended waiting period.
Avoid cold showers or baths immediately after.
Rest for the remainder of the day; avoid rushing back into a busy schedule.
Notice any changes in energy, digestion, or sleep quality over the following days — these are positive signs of rebalancing.
2. Udvartana — Ayurvedic Powder Massage Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Do not apply any moisturisers or oils to the skin on the day of treatment.
Inform the practitioner of any skin conditions, open wounds, or broken skin.
Avoid heavy exercise immediately before the session.
Eat a light meal at least 1–2 hours prior.
After:
Take a warm shower to remove the herbal powder residue; use a gentle, natural cleanser if needed.
Moisturise with a natural oil (such as sesame or coconut) or as recommended by Dr Balure.
Drink warm water generously to support lymphatic drainage and elimination of toxins.
You may notice temporary skin redness — this is normal and will subside within a few hours.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours as the skin may be more sensitive following treatment.
Eat a light, warm meal afterwards.
3. Pinda Swedana — Herbal Bolus Massage Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Arrive without heavy body lotion or oil on the skin.
Inform the practitioner of any heat sensitivity, hypertension, or cardiovascular conditions.
Eat a light meal at least 1.5–2 hours beforehand.
Stay well hydrated on the day.
After:
Rest for at least 30 minutes after treatment — avoid going out in cold air immediately.
Shower with warm water after the session; avoid cold water.
The skin and muscles may feel deeply relaxed — this is a normal, positive response.
Drink warm water or herbal tea to assist detoxification.
Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours to allow the body to process the therapy fully.
A light, warm meal is recommended after treatment.
4. Nadi Swedana — Localised Herbal Steam Therapy
(30 minutes | Also available as an Add-On)
Before:
Inform the practitioner of any heat sensitivity, high blood pressure, or varicose veins in the treatment area.
Remove any jewellery from the treatment area beforehand.
Avoid eating a heavy meal within 1–2 hours of treatment.
Stay well hydrated before the session.
After:
Rest the treated area and avoid cold exposure immediately after.
Drink warm water to support detoxification through perspiration.
The treated area may appear slightly pink — this is a healthy circulatory response.
Avoid cold showers on the treated area immediately after.
Refrain from strenuous activity for the rest of the day.
5. Janu Basti — Knee Oil Retention Therapy
(45–60 minutes | Both knees)
Before:
Wear or bring loose-fitting bottoms that can be rolled up above the knee.
Inform the practitioner of any open wounds, skin infections, or recent surgical procedures around the knees.
Avoid heavy exercise or long walks immediately before treatment.
Eat lightly beforehand.
After:
Keep the knee area warm after treatment; avoid cold, damp conditions.
Rest and avoid prolonged standing, walking, or stair climbing for the remainder of the day.
You may experience a pleasant warmth and increased mobility — this is a positive therapeutic response.
Apply the recommended warm oil or herbal preparation as advised by Dr Balure.
Drink warm water throughout the day.
Report any increased discomfort at your follow-up consultation.
6. Kati Basti — Lower Back Oil Retention Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Inform the practitioner of any spinal conditions, recent injuries, or surgical history in the lower back.
Wear comfortable clothing with easy access to the lower back area.
Avoid a heavy meal for at least 1.5–2 hours before treatment.
After:
Avoid sitting for prolonged periods immediately after — gentle, slow movement is preferred.
Keep the lower back area warm; a light wrap or warm clothing is recommended.
Avoid cold exposure and heavy lifting for at least 24 hours.
Rest and allow the medicated oil to continue acting within the tissues.
Apply warm herbal oil to the lower back as directed for home care.
Note any changes in stiffness, pain levels, or mobility and share these at your next appointment.
7. Manya Basti — Neck Oil Retention Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Inform the practitioner of any cervical spine conditions, injuries, or recent surgeries in the neck area.
Avoid wearing high-neck or tight collars on the day of treatment.
Tie hair up to keep it clear of the treatment area.
Avoid heavy meals within 1–2 hours before treatment.
After:
Keep the neck warm after treatment — avoid cold drafts, air conditioning, or going out in cold weather immediately after.
Avoid prolonged screen use or desk work requiring neck strain for the rest of the day.
Gently rotate the neck slowly if movement feels improved, but avoid sudden or forceful movements.
Apply warm herbal oil to the neck as recommended.
Rest and avoid stress for the remainder of the day.
8. Pristha Basti — Spinal Oil Retention Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Inform the practitioner of any diagnosed spinal conditions (e.g. herniated disc, spinal stenosis), recent surgery, or acute back pain.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing for easy access to the full spine.
Avoid a heavy meal for at least 1.5–2 hours prior.
After:
Rest lying down for at least 30 minutes following treatment if possible.
Avoid sudden twisting, bending, or lifting for 24 hours.
Keep the entire spine warm and protected from cold.
Take a warm shower later in the day, following the practitioner's guidance on the post-treatment waiting period.
Follow any prescribed home oil application and lifestyle adjustments.
9. Uro Basti — Chest Oil Retention Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Inform the practitioner of any heart conditions, respiratory conditions, or chest-area skin sensitivities.
Avoid a heavy meal for at least 2 hours before treatment.
Avoid strenuous activity or exercise immediately before the session.
After:
Rest quietly after treatment — deep breathing exercises (as advised) can complement the therapy's benefits.
Keep the chest area warm; avoid cold environments.
Drink warm herbal tea or water.
Avoid cold foods, drinks, and cold exposure for the remainder of the day.
Follow any breathing or lifestyle guidance provided by Dr Balure.
10. Mukha Abhyanga & Mukha Lepa — Ayurvedic Facial Treatment
(50 minutes)
Before:
Arrive with a clean face — remove all makeup, foundation, and skincare products before your appointment.
Inform the practitioner of any skin allergies (particularly to herbal ingredients, essential oils, or nut-based oils).
Avoid any facial treatments, chemical peels, or waxing within 5–7 days before your appointment.
Do not use retinoids or strong exfoliants for 48–72 hours before treatment.
After:
Do not wash the face for at least 4–6 hours after treatment (or as advised) to allow the herbal lepa to work.
Avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours — if going outside, use a natural SPF.
Do not apply makeup for the rest of the day.
Your skin may appear slightly flushed immediately after — this is temporary and a sign of improved circulation.
Use only gentle, natural skincare for the following 48 hours.
Follow any dietary or lifestyle guidance provided to support skin health from the inside out.
11. Netra Tarpan — Eye Rejuvenation Therapy
(40 minutes)
Before:
Remove contact lenses before treatment and do not wear them for at least 4 hours after.
Inform the practitioner of any eye conditions, recent eye surgery, or active eye infections — treatment cannot proceed if any infection is present.
Avoid heavy screen time in the 1–2 hours before your session.
Arrange transport home if possible — vision may feel temporarily altered or soft after treatment.
After:
Avoid screens (phone, computer, TV) for at least 2–4 hours after treatment to allow the eyes to rest fully.
Rest in a low-light environment for a period after treatment.
Do not rub the eyes after treatment.
Apply any prescribed eye drops or herbal preparations as directed.
Avoid exposure to dust, smoke, or bright sunlight immediately after.
Eat light, eye-nourishing foods (as advised) to complement the therapy.
12. Ayurvedic Hot Cupping Therapy
(30–45 minutes | Back £65 | Back + Legs £99)
Before:
Inform the practitioner of any skin conditions, blood clotting disorders, varicose veins in the treatment area, or active inflammation.
Avoid sunburn or broken skin in the treatment area.
Stay well hydrated on the day of treatment.
Avoid heavy exercise on the same day.
Do not apply oils or lotions to the treatment area beforehand.
After:
Temporary circular marks (cupping marks) are a normal and expected outcome — they are not bruises and typically fade within 3–7 days.
Avoid sun exposure on the treated areas and do not apply heat (e.g. hot water bottles) directly to them for 24 hours.
Drink plenty of warm water to support the elimination of released toxins.
Avoid cold showers on the treated area for 24 hours.
Rest and avoid strenuous physical activity for the remainder of the day.
Moisturise gently with a natural oil once the area has settled (usually after a few hours).
13. Shirodhara — Continuous Forehead Oil Therapy
(45 minutes)
Before:
Arrange transport home — driving immediately after is not recommended as Shirodhara induces deep relaxation and can temporarily affect alertness.
Tie or pin hair back away from the forehead to allow full access to the treatment area.
Avoid washing hair immediately before the session (the oil will be applied to the scalp and head).
Eat a light meal at least 1.5–2 hours before treatment.
Avoid caffeine before your session to allow the mind to settle more easily.
After:
Avoid washing the hair for at least 4–6 hours after treatment, or ideally overnight, to allow the warm oil to deeply penetrate the scalp and nervous system.
Rest and avoid stimulating activities — this is a deeply calming therapy; honour that calm.
Avoid screens, loud music, and mentally demanding tasks for the remainder of the day.
Wrap the head in a warm towel or light scarf when going outside to protect from cold wind.
When you do wash the hair, use a gentle, sulphate-free shampoo.
A light, warm meal and early bedtime are encouraged.
Many clients report improved sleep quality in the days following Shirodhara.
14. Pada Abhyanga — Ayurvedic Foot Herbal Oil Massage Therapy
(30 minutes)
Before:
Feet will be cleaned at the start of treatment, but please arrive with clean feet.
Inform the practitioner of any open wounds, fungal infections, or skin conditions on the feet or lower legs.
Remove nail varnish if possible so the practitioner can assess nail and skin health.
After:
Wear warm socks immediately after treatment to retain the warmth and benefits of the oils.
Avoid walking barefoot on cold floors after the session.
The residual oil on the feet is beneficial — leave it on for several hours if possible.
Rest with feet slightly elevated if convenient.
Drink warm water or herbal tea.

15. Shiro Abhyanga — Head, Shoulder and Scalp Massage Therapy

Before:

Avoid blow-drying or heat styling the hair immediately before the session.
Come with hair down and accessible for treatment.
After:
Leave the oil in the hair for as long as possible (minimum 1–2 hours; ideally overnight for full nourishment).
Avoid washing the hair with hot water — use warm water and a gentle shampoo.
You may feel deeply relaxed and slightly drowsy — avoid driving immediately if this is the case.
